Waters of LIFE are inviting participants of its agri-environmental programme to a farm walk and training event in the Islands sub-catchment.

Training will focus on how pollutants like fine sediment and phosphorous can end up in rivers as well as actions to address runoff.

Date: Thursday December 11th 2025

Location: Fr. Flanagan Memorial Centre, Ballymoe with site visit to a local farm.

Time: 09:30 to 12:30 (Morning Session) or 13:00 to 16:00 (Afternoon Session)

The event will start with a practical overview of runoff risk assessment at the Fr. Flanagan Memorial Centre in Ballymoe. Participants will then bus transfer to a local farm for field training.

Farmers will learn about:

  • Recent changes to local water quality
  • Common pollutants and the role of soil type
  • Assessing runoff risk on farms
  • Supporting actions for water quality

This training event is only available to current participants of the Waters of LIFE agri-environmental programme in the Islands sub-catchment.

Farmers will receive a training payment for their active participation, time and knowledge sharing at this event.

Numbers for this event are strictly limited. Participants are advised to register early to guarantee their preferred morning or afternoon session

Participants can only register for ONE of the sessions. The content for both sessions is the same. Participants who register for both events may lose their place.
