Participants in the Waters of LIFE Agri-Environmental Programme pilot have the right to appeal a decision made by the Project Team.

This may relate to decisions on:

  • Approval/rejection of supporting actions in the participants Water Quality Farm Works Plan

We first shared details of your appeal rights in your Terms and Conditions booklet.

If you have a query about any assessment of your farm, here’s what do first:

If you are a programme participant farmer, you should speak to your advisor to explain the basis for your appeal. This can be done in person or on the phone. The advisor can review the appeal and gather further information from Waters of LIFE Project if needed.

If the matter is not resolved, you can contact your local catchment scientist for additional information.

To submit a written appeal:

If you’ve made an initial query and want to proceed with an appeal, you can use our online portal to make a written submission. The appeals portal will be live on www.watersoflife.ie on July 1st 2026.

You should include:

  • Your Programme ID number
  • ID numbers for any plots or supporting actions related to your appeal
  • Written details on your query

If your query relates to more than one plot, you don’t have to make more than one appeal. Just leave the ‘Plot ID’ field blank and include any details you can in your written submission.

Click here for contact details of your local catchment scientist.

If you would like to submit photos with your appeal, please send them directly to your advisor or catchment scientist. This will help the project understand the nature of your appeal more quickly.

Your Programme ID is written on all written correspondence we’ve sent to you. It is the first three letters of your sub-catchment, followed by your year of programme entry, followed by a unique number assigned to you e.g,. ISL_2025_352
Plot Reference IDs follow the same format but add another number to uniquely identify your plot e.g. ISL_2025_352_01. They are written on your farm plan, your habitat assessment report and your water quality farm works plan.
